The show’s narrative centres on Dr Raj Nagpal, a renowned doctor who is “separated, not divorced” from his wife, Anju. They have a 13-year-old daughter, Ira, who is undergoing therapy for Asperger’s syndrome. She is constantly under the medical care of Dr Raj Nagpal’s nurse and his new girlfriend, Roshni Saluja. It’s Ira’s birthday, and family and friends come together to celebrate. But soon, things turn ugly, and the dance floor becomes a crime scene the next day. Dr Raj is found with the murdered body of Roshni and is detained. And that’s when Anju seeks the legal help of Madhav Mishra, aka the LLB gold medalist, to prove her husband’s innocence. Madhav Mishra has never lost a case, but this one seems the trickiest. Will he take a case which is already full of loopholes? Will he win the courtroom drama?

Criminal Justice Season 4 series review: Nothing really matters

The fourth instalment of the franchise, Criminal Justice, starts pretty slow and remains this way till the second episode. Adding to the dullness, the creators have only released three episodes, leaving fans disappointed. The show has a good plot, ticking all the characteristics of a crime series. But its execution has failed the writing so far. The motive of making it a family crime series has led to abrupt comic timing in the middle of a serious matter at hand. But the show still promises hope as the third episode picks up well, giving complete attention to the murder mystery. The end of this episode will leave you quite curious and invested in the case.

On the performance front, Pankaj Tripathi’s soft demeanour and quick wit make Criminal Justice Season 4 an engaging watch. His face-off with another lawyer, Lekha Bhardwaj (Shweta Basu Prasad), will be disclosed in the next episodes. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, as Dr Raj, keeps the mystery element alive, and we can’t wait to see more from this character. Surveen Chawla, as Anju, delivers a fierce, unfiltered performance as a mother torn between family and legal matters. Asha Negi’s presence, however brief, brings depth to her character, Roshni Saluja. Her raw portrayal of a jealous yet loving girlfriend highlights her brilliance. Supporting actors, including Barkha Singh, Mita Vashisht, Kalyanee Mulay and Khusboo Atre, elevate the plot with their impressive performances.

Can you watch Criminal Justice Season 4 with your family?: Yes, there are no scenes of excessive gore or intimacy, except a short kiss in the third episode, to make you uncomfortable.
