You know that feeling when you’re endlessly scrolling, hoping to find something that isn’t just hype but actually worth your time? That was me this weekend. I wasn’t in the mood for another predictable whodunit or over-the-top action thriller. I wanted something clever, twisty, and completely gripping. So, I dove headfirst into Amazon Prime Video’s crime mystery section… and let me tell you, I struck gold. From sharply written thrillers to psychological slow burns, I found a bunch of films that flew under the radar but deserve all the attention. If you’re into layered storytelling, dark secrets, and those delicious final-act twists, these crime mystery movies on Prime Video are for you.

1. Monsoon Shootout

This one’s for fans of the unconventional. A young cop is faced with a split-second decision: shoot or don’t shoot. What follows are three alternate realities based on that single choice. It’s moody, it’s cerebral, and it doesn’t hold your hand through the narrative. Plus, the movie stars Vijay Varma, so you should give it a try.

2. The Gift

A couple’s life is disrupted by an old acquaintance who won’t go away and keeps dropping off cryptic gifts. This slow-burn psychological thriller takes a dark turn you won’t see coming.

3. Table No. 21

This movie is as good as its music. A honeymooning couple takes part in a mysterious game show in Fiji with very real consequences. What starts as a fun challenge quickly becomes a psychological trap as their past starts to catch up with them.

4. Rahasya

Inspired by the real-life Aarushi Talwar case (though it doesn’t claim to be), Rahasya pulls you into a twisted family saga where everyone has a secret. This film didn’t get half the attention it deserved, but if you love courtroom drama mixed with murder mystery, this movie is a gripping watch.

5. Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!

You’d think a murder mystery set in 1940s Kolkata with Sushant Singh Rajput as a young sleuth would’ve been a mainstream hit. But no, this one’s still criminally underrated. With its noir aesthetic, layered plot, and immersive period setting, it’s Sherlock Holmes but with Indian swag and a WWII backdrop.

6. The Wailing

A strange illness grips a rural village, and things escalate into full-blown madness. Part crime, part horror, all mind-bending. It’s an eerie, unpredictable masterpiece. Set in the misty mountains of South Korea, The Wailing blends folklore, murder, and spiritual dread in the most unsettling way.

7. My Client’s Wife

A lawyer is asked to defend a man accused of assaulting his wife, but the more he investigates, the murkier the truth gets. What follows is a maze of manipulation, power play, and gaslighting. This one will keep you guessing till the very end.

So, which of these crime mystery movies are you going to watch on Amazon Prime Video?
