The movie follows the story of Saba Shergill (Shanaya Kapoor) and Jahaan (Vikrant Massey), which begins when they meet each other on a train journey to Mussoorie. But it’s not a regular meet-up as Saba unintentionally slaps Jahaan instead of greeting him. Saba, a theatre artist, wears a blindfold as she wants to learn to live the life of a blind person for her Bollywood debut. On the contrary, Jahaan is a blind musician, travelling to his comfort place in Mussoorie to overcome his creative block.

After being abandoned by her manager, Saba is all by herself in her method acting challenge. Seeing her struggle, Jahaan helps her to adapt to her surroundings by using other equally powerful senses. Soon enough, they fall in love with each other, but here’s the twist: Jahaan hasn’t yet told her about his truth. As Saba reaches the last day of her challenge, she is desperate to see his face. Will Jahaan tell her the truth? Will Saba love him the same as she did before?

If there’s one thing that you’ll instantly love about this romcom, it has be Santosh’s incredible direction. His creativity stands out in each scene. Whether it’s a street in Mussoorie or a bar setting, the scenes will transport you there to engage you in the story. The warm hues of yellow and red add to the romantic plot. Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan beautifully plays with the theme of perception and deception through the characters Jahaan and Saba. Jahaan is confident in his skin but love compels him to give in to society’s judgement. He wants to be understood and chosen as an equal, not as an adjustment. Through Jahaan, the makers succeed in delivering a much-needed social message.

The movie employs comedy to add humourous tones to the intense storyline without losing the essence. Talking about comedy, Vikrant’s comic timing outshines everyone else’s. Vikrant Massey is undoubtedly the best in the movie. His craft is visible in Jahaan’s raw character arc. His portrayal of a blind musician is effortless and engaging. Shanaya Kapoor delivers a pleasing performance as a debutant. She does justice to her playful yet heartbroken character, Saba. Shanaya’s performance is quite convincing as a first timer, and we are definitely looking forward to seeing her in future movies.

While Vikrant and Shanaya aced their roles, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan also casts Zain Khan Durrani who shines equally. He plays Abhinav, Saba’s boyfriend in the movie. Zain brings fresh talent and is a delight to watch throughout.

Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan movie is now running in theatres.

Can you watch Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan with your family?: Maybe not, the movie contains intimate scenes that might make you awkward.
