No party is complete without snacks. And the best snacks are always convenient chips and other finger foods that can be dipped into a flavourful dip. When there are multiple dips to choose from, your guests will love you for it. Making several kinds of dips might sound like a pain, but it’s easier than you think. We know you’re short on time, so we curated some easy, quick recipes for dips which you can make even as your first guests are arriving.
Here are five recipes which can spice up your next house party. All you need is to go shopping a day in advance to the nearest supermarket.
1. Chipotle lime hummus

Ingredients:
400 gms chickpeas
2 tbsp fresh lime juice
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp tahini
1 tbsp chipotle sauce
1-2 garlic cloves, increase or decrease according to preference
1 /2 tsp ground cumin powder
1 /4 tsp coriander powder
1 /4 tsp paprika
1 /4 tsp salt, increase or decrease according to preference
1 tsp chopped coriander for garnish
Method:
Soak the chickpeas overnight. The next day, blend them with a hand blender till you have a paste with a liquid consistency. Add all the other ingredients and mix well. You can use the blender again to ensure the ingredients are well combined.
Garnish with a splash of olive oil and chopped coriander. Put in the refrigerator to chill. Serve with any finger foods.
2. Tzatziki

Ingredients:
500 gms yogurt
1 cup grated cucumber
1 tbsp parsley/basil/thyme/rosemary, choose the herb of your choice
2 cloves grated garlic, increase or decrease according to preference
2 tbsp lemon juice
Salt, according to preference
Pepper, according to preference
Method:
Hang the yogurt in a muslin cloth for a few hours to drain out any excess water. Put the grated cucumber in a sieve to drain out water.
When the yogurt is ready, mix the ingredients, except the cucumber, in the yogurt and combine well. Squeeze the grated cucumber well to get rid of any water. Add it to the yogurt mix.
Refrigerate for a few minutes and garnish with choice of herbs. Serve with crackers or chips.
3. Honey mustard dip

Ingredients:
1 /4 cup sour cream
1 /2 cup yogurt
1 tbsp honey
1 tsp mustard
1 /4 tsp mustard powder, choose coarse or fine according to preference
Salt
Pepper
Method:
Hang the yogurt in a muslin cloth for a few hours to drain out any excess water. When it’s done, put the yogurt in a bowl, and add sour cream, honey, mustard, pepper and salt. Mix these ingredients thoroughly to ensure they are well combined.
Refrigerate to chill. Garnish with mustard powder and crushed pepper.
Serve with slices of cucumbers and carrots.
4. Whipped goat cheese

Ingredients:
200 gms goat cheese
2 tbsp full cream milk
1 tbsp fresh herbs of choice
1 tsp honey
Salt
Pepper
Method:
Put the goat cheese, milk, herbs and honey in a food processor or blender. Blend this mixture till the cheese looks fluffy. Add salt and pepper. Put it in the refrigerator and take it out a few minutes before it’s time to serve the dip.
Serve at room temperature with crackers or chips.
5. Smoked salmon spread

Ingredients:
200 gms cream cheese
1 /2 cup plain yogurt
Juice of half a lemon
4-5 dashes Tabasco sauce
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp wasabi paste
150 gms flaked smoked salmon
2 diced spring onions
1 tbsp choice of herbs
Method:
Ensure the cream cheese is softened before use. Keep it out of the refrigerator for a while before starting this recipe.
Break the smoked salmon slices with a fork to get flakes.
Put all the ingredients in a bowl and combine with a hand blender or food processor. Keep checking the consistency of the mixture with a spatula or flat spoon.
Serve with fresh vegetables or baguette slices.
