Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has made a shocking disclosure that has sent shockwaves among parents everywhere. His teenage daughter, Nitara, was approached by a stranger while playing an online video game and asked for nude photos. The actor revealed the chilling incident at the inauguration of Cyber Awareness Month 2025 in Mumbai, calling it one of the most horrifying realities any parent could imagine. What should have been harmless gaming turned into a stark reminder of how predators lurk behind screens.
What happened with Akshay Kumar’s daughter?
Akshay explained that Nitara was playing an online multiplayer game when a stranger struck up a chat. He said, “It started innocently enough with compliments like ‘Well played’ and ‘You’re doing great.’ Then a message came, “Are you male or female?” When she replied ‘female,’ then he sent a message: ‘Can you send me a nude picture of yours?'”. Akshay Kumar went on to say that Nitara immediately exited the game and went straight to her mother. But the very fact that such a request was made in what should have been a safe space shows how bold online predators have become.
“Bigger than street crime”

Speaking at the event, Akshay didn’t mince his words. He warned that cybercrime has now become “bigger than street crime”, and urged both parents and policymakers to treat it with the seriousness it deserves. Akshay even proposed introducing this as a subject in school. “I request the Chief Minister that in our state, every week in the seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth standards, a period called cyber period should be introduced, where children should be taught about it.”
What’s really horrifying is that stories like this aren’t rare. Online games and apps are fertile hunting grounds for predators because they allow anonymity, instant access, and easy manipulation. What begins as a friendly chat can quickly escalate into harassment, grooming, or blackmail. The disturbing part? Many children don’t always tell their parents, either out of fear or embarrassment. That Nitara spoke up immediately shows the importance of open communication at home.
By speaking so openly about his daughter’s experience, Akshay Kumar has revealed an uncomfortable truth that many might avoid: even celebrities with resources and awareness face the darker side of the internet. His call for cyber education in schools feels less like a suggestion and more like an urgent necessity. Just as we teach road safety before letting children cycle alone, we need to prepare them for the reality of a digital life.
