“Dad, Aishwarya and I say a silent prayer”

Abhishek Bachchan revealed the truth behind Jaya Bachchan’s annoyance with paps on the infamous Koffee couch. On an episode of Koffee With Karan, where Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan Nanda were sharing the couch, the siblings opened up about their mother’s long-standing aversion to being photographed in public.
Abhishek, known for his quick wit and charm, explained how the Bachchans cope with public appearances together. “If it’s the four of us — Dad, Aishwarya, and I, we just hold hands and say a silent prayer before stepping onto the red carpet. And then we collect ourselves and walk on. If Shweta Di is with us, we just send her with Maa.”
After a quick laugh at Abhishek’s statement, Shweta Bachchan Nanda revealed the actual reason behind her mother’s behaviour. She said, “She gets very claustrophobic when there are too many people around her. She also doesn’t like it when people take her pictures without asking her; she comes from that school of thought.”

A celebrity photographer, Manav Manglani, also once shared that Jaya Bachchan doesn’t necessarily hate the paparazzi but the paparazzi culture. He said, “She hates when they catch her off guard. She doesn’t mind them when they are at a press conference or a film premiere.” Manav also shared that she has her fun moments with the paps; it’s just that she doesn’t like her personal space getting invaded.

Now we know the reason behind Jaya ji giving “the look” every time she sees a photographer.
