The release of Gully Boy brought with it plenty of praise for its soundtrack. Written and performed by the best in their genre, it truly is a work of art. Also notable about the film were its performances. One could tell how hard Ranveer Singh worked to prepare for the film. But someone who absolutely stole the show was actor Siddhant Chaturvedi. Making his film debut with Gully Boy, Chaturvedi played Shrikanth aka MC Sher, a rapper who takes Ranveer Singh’s Murad under his wing, mentoring the budding, young artist.
The character that’s winning hearts across India
With an infectious smile and an attitude to match, Siddhant Chaturvedi’s MC Sher dominated the screen every time he appeared. Shrikanth is the first person to take note of Murad’s writing talent, and gives him the push he needs to actually start rapping. Shrikanth taught Murad the basics, honed his talent, gave him the confidence and savvy to actually take his talent out of Dharavi and make a name for himself. None of this would’ve been possible without Shrikanth’s faith in Murad’s verses. A man who looked out for his friend and was truly happy for all of his successes, Chaturvedi’s character won hearts all over theatres.
Siddhant Chaturvedi almost didn’t become an actor
Chaturvedi was studying to become a chartered accountant, just like his father. After winning a talent contest by Bombay Times, he decided to pursue his passion in performing arts full-time. Trained in theatre, martial arts, parkour, and multiple dance styles, Chaturvedi landed a role in Life Sahi Hai, a webseries by Pyaar Ka Punchnama director Luv Ranjan.

His breakout role was in the Emmy-nominated webseries Inside Edge. Siddhant Chaturvedi played a young cricketer in a fictional T20 team, and stood out amidst seasoned actors like Richa Chadha.
While this was Chaturvedi’s first film, the fact that he is already earning praise for his performance as the gregarious rapper only shows good things for his future. We’re definitely waiting to see his next performance, aren’t you?
